The legend of Orpheus and Eurydice, one of the most famous and tragic of all Greek myths, takes on a surprise turn in Nanette J. Purcigliotti's retelling of this timeless myth, as Orpheus journeys to Hades to rescue his bride, Eurydice, by the magic of his music. After researching the myriad versions of this myth, she based her version on Ovid's "Metamorphoses, Book X" -acknowledging the primary source for authenticity. This myth, explored in various forms by filmmakers, musicians, and artists, compelled the author to craft her own rendition. The magic of Orpheus's six-stringed lyre plays a significant role as he journeys to find his bride, Eurydice, after she disappeared from the grounds of their mother-of-pearl castle on their wedding day. The musician unleashes his creative energy by the magic of his music, his music flowing through the narrative, in all of its rhythms, melodies, and harmony. While music plays in the background, dramatic digital art enhances the pictorial view of the book. Her digital art illustrations accompanying the "The Magic Lyre, The Legend of Orpheus and Eurydice," found their genesis based on the photographs pinned into her wedding album that fit the scenes in her book.
