The Making of the Earth (Hardcover) (ISBN-13: 9781025819471)

"The Making of the Earth" is a comprehensive and accessible exploration of our planet's physical origins and developmental history. Written by the esteemed geologist J.W. Gregory, this work delves into the complex processes that shaped the globe, from its initial formation in the solar system to the establishment of its current geographical features. The text provides a detailed examination of the Earth's internal structure, the shifting of continents, and the powerful atmospheric and geological forces that have governed terrestrial evolution over eons.

Blending scientific rigor with a narrative clarity suitable for the general reader, Gregory addresses fundamental questions about the nature of the crust, the formation of oceans, and the emergence of life. This book serves as an important historical record of early 20th-century geological thought, illustrating how scientific understanding of planetary development was synthesized during a period of significant discovery. "The Making of the Earth" remains a vital resource for those interested in the history of science, the mechanics of physical geography, and the enduring mystery of our world's beginnings.
