"The Man in the Iron Mask" is an adventure novel by Alexandre Dumas, first published in 1847. Set in 17th century France, the novel follows the story of a mysterious prisoner who is held captive in the Bastille prison. His identity is unknown, but he wears an iron mask that conceals his face. The novel follows the adventures of the musketeers, Athos, Porthos, Aramis, and D'Artagnan, as they attempt to uncover the prisoner's identity and free him from his imprisonment. Alexandre Dumas (1802 - 1870) was a French writer and playwright, best known for his historical adventure novels. Other notable works by this author include: "The Three Musketeers" (1844), "The Count of Monte Cristo" (1844), and "The Queen's Necklace" (1849). This classic novel is a must-read for all fans of adventure and mystery.
