The U.S. and a host of major corporations have shelved their efforts to replace carbon-spewing technologies with clean energy. Many countries around the world are now building their military defences instead of planetary defences. Despite years of international pledges, global efforts have failed to stop rising temperatures from endangering the planet.

Yet this book argues that there is reason for hope. The author, a journalist and veteran of global climate conferences, says that even without the U.S., the efforts to make the world green and more fair, especially for the Global South, is an unstoppable force. Sustainability is being powered by solid economics: Green and renewable energy is much more profitable and economically viable than any new fossil fuels ventures.

The world, in other words, is moving ahead with sustainability plans, and in the absence of the U.S., the leaders will be China and India.

This Manifesto is written to urge citizens to renew their campaign for a sustainable future for our species and for the planet itself. At a time when efforts by global politicians have stalled while climate emergency, conflict, and corruption have corroded all our aspirations for a just society in a liveable planet, the author aims to empower citizen leaders to push for tough and enforceable measures to save the planet and our species. Satya Brata Das is an influential global strategist, adviser, writer, and storyteller. He has used his skills in policy, diplomacy, strategy, and advocacy to push sustainability, meet the climate challenge, and fund inclusive societal development. Das has participated in many of the world's
top meetings to fight climate change and bring about sustainable development. He was the first Global Chair of the Washington DC think tank The Digital Economist.

Das was one of the first Canadian journalists of colour who overcame systemic racist barriers to rise to the top of the profession. In 1975, he became the first person of colour in the Press Gallery of the Alberta legislature. He was Canada's first editorialist, foreign correspondent, and
columnist of colour.

Das serves on several boards of directors--private, public, and philanthropic ventures--that all contribute to the common good. He's a member of the audit committee the Canadian Heritage Department, which promotes Canadian values, heritage, culture, and pluralistic identity.

His mission is to pursue human rights as a way of life, where people of all origins live together with dignity, in community, and enjoying freedom from fear and want, in harmony with one another and with the natural world.

Das is the author of his 2019 memoir, Us. He lives in Edmonton, Alberta, where he and his life partner, Mita, raised two daughters and enjoy the company of their grandchildren.
