Oracle Winchester is a former Interpol and FBI agent turned private consulting investigator in the city of New Orleans. She has a unique affinity for catching serial killers. Her first boyfriend from high school was a serial murderer and intended on making her his final victim before her escape. The psychological and physical scars left on Oracle sent her on the path to catching human monsters but that also took a massive toll on her and left her empty and moving through her life empty of true feelings and connections with other people.

However, Oracle isn't alone in her darkness.

A new man has appeared in her life at the same time that bodies start appearing in the French Quarter, which begs the question, who is Drake Blackthorne? Businessman, potential lover and The Marquis serial killer. Oracle is intrigued and enthralled by him, she keeps his secret even if it alienates and puts her family and herself in peril. There is nothing more dangerous than dancing with the darkness, the flames of hell kissing one's feet.

When the other dark figure that boldly stalked her for two decades reappears, it's a battle in her mind with the spirits that plague her nightmares and the reality of real-life monsters she has been tasked to hunt. When her worlds collide, she must decipher what is real, what is a waking nightmare and whether her secrets can stay dead and buried. Or would they resurrect themselves in order to bring about her downfall?
