The New Service Book: Containing the Choral Service for Morning and Evening Prayer, Chants for the Canticles, Music for the Communion Service, Chants (Paperback) (ISBN-13: 9781025869476)

"The New Service Book" is a comprehensive collection of liturgical music and choral arrangements specifically designed for the worship services of the Episcopal Church. This essential volume brings together the musical settings for the "Morning and Evening Prayer," providing a melodic framework for daily devotions. Beyond the daily offices, the collection includes a wide array of chants for the "Canticles," as well as specialized music for the "Communion Service" and the "Burial Office."

As a significant resource for church musicians and clergy, this book facilitates the traditional choral elements that define the Anglican and Episcopal liturgical experience. By organizing these disparate musical components into a single, accessible volume, it serves as a practical guide for conducting services with dignity and musicality. Whether used for congregational singing or choir leadership, "The New Service Book" remains an important record of religious music, reflecting the enduring traditions of liturgical chant and the structured beauty of the Episcopal prayer book tradition. It offers valuable insight into the practice of communal prayer and the central role of music in the sacramental life of the church.
