The Oera Linda Book: A Cold Case Reopened (Paperback) (ISBN-13: 9798186414230)

In 1879, a manuscript was condemned as a forgery at a conference in Maastricht. The verdict was reached in a single afternoon. It has never been overturned.

The Oera Linda Book surfaced in 1867 - a collection of ancient Frisian manuscripts that described a lost island, a matriarchal constitution, and a flood that predated the biblical deluge by a thousand years. The paper was modern, the language was unknown, and the establishment declared it a hoax.

A hundred and fifty years later, no carbon dating has been performed. No ink spectrometry. No proper palaeographic analysis. The case against the manuscript rests on the same three arguments that were never properly tested.

This book reopens the cold case. Using forensic linguistics, geological data, spectral band analysis, and paleocoastline mapping, it examines what the original verdict ignored - and discovers that the evidence keeps not supporting the forgery hypothesis.

The Oera Linda Book is either the most sophisticated hoax of the nineteenth century, or the most important historical manuscript you've never heard of.

The evidence is on the table now. The verdict, for the first time in a hundred and fifty years, is no longer settled.
