The Oppression and Exodus: The Story of Israel in Egypt in the Eighteenth Dynasty (Paperback) (ISBN-13: 9781025883366)

"The Oppression and Exodus: The Story of Israel in Egypt in the Eighteenth Dynasty" provides a detailed historical examination of one of the most pivotal narratives in the Bible. Thorwald C. Thorson explores the intersection of Egyptian history and the book of Exodus, specifically focusing on how the timeline of the Israelites' enslavement and departure aligns with the records of the New Kingdom's Eighteenth Dynasty.

By analyzing the reigns of the Pharaohs and the geopolitical landscape of the era, the work seeks to ground the biblical account in a concrete historical and archaeological framework. It investigates the socio-political conditions that characterized the oppression of the Hebrew people and the circumstances that ultimately led to their departure from Egypt. This study is an essential resource for those interested in biblical archaeology, ancient Near Eastern history, and the chronological relationship between scripture and secular history. Thorson offers a compelling look at the foundations of the Israelite nation through the lens of early twentieth-century scholarship, emphasizing the historical significance of the Exodus within the context of ancient world civilizations.
