JEAN ALONSO worked in a defense plant from 1978 to 1993 building parts for missiles. She holds a Harvard B.A., and masters degrees from Tufts in English and Goddard College in Psychotherapy and Social Change. She has published articles in The Women's Review of Books and The Monthly Review, and has worked for many years as a public mental health counsellor. She has two grown children and lives in Boston with her cat, Dow Jones.
