The Pea Puffer: Carinotetraodon travancoricus: Complete Guide to Care, Tank Setup, Feeding, Behavior, Health and Breeding (Paperback) (ISBN-13: 9798194754502)

Carinotetraodon travancoricus is a remarkable miniature predator from the Western Ghats of India. Intelligent, observant, territorial and highly specialized in the way it feeds, it requires far more thoughtful care than its tiny size suggests.

In this complete guide, Jérémy Rogier combines scientific literature with practical aquarium husbandry to explain how to keep pea puffers successfully and responsibly.

Discover how to:

- design a properly planted and structured aquarium
- choose between solitary and group keeping
- manage aggression and territorial behavior
- provide an appropriate varied diet
- understand the truth about snails and tooth growth
- recognize healthy and unhealthy body condition
- quarantine and manage common health problems
- understand sex differences and breeding behavior
- raise eggs and fry
- distinguish established science from aquarium myths
- understand the conservation issues surrounding wild-caught pea puffers

The book also examines twelve persistent myths surrounding the species, including brackish water, tiny nano tanks, mandatory groups of six, daily snails and routine tooth trimming.

A practical, evidence-informed guide for aquarists who want to understand the animal behind the nickname-not simply keep it alive.
