MacKenzie accepts slavery for himself and the male members of the crew in exchange for citizenship for the female crew members. The men are enslaved on farms where they labor in the fields and then have their semen "extracted" by a mechanical device in the most humiliating manner imaginable. On a world where the population is declining, the sperm harvested from the men of the ARROW is precious, and in time MacKenzie is able to wrest concessions from the Vlorians. There is plenty of intrigue as one faction of the ruling council kidnaps MacKenzie and keeps him prisoner at a secret location. There is also an exploratory tour of other parts of the devastated, feudal planet and love for MacKenzie with the beautiful Forlana before MacKenzie finally discovers peace and contentment on this alien world.
