The Poetry of Our Lord: An Examination of the Formal Elements of Hebrew Poetry in the Discourses of Jesus Christ (Paperback) (ISBN-13: 9781025916255)

"The Poetry of Our Lord" is a scholarly and insightful examination of the linguistic and structural foundations of the discourses of Jesus Christ. This work delves into the formal elements of Hebrew poetry, such as parallelism and rhythm, to demonstrate how these traditional Semitic forms permeate the teachings found in the New Testament Gospels.

By tracing the poetic structures inherent in the original Aramaic thought-forms behind the Greek text, the author provides a deeper understanding of the symmetry and balance in Christ's parables and sermons. This study offers readers a unique perspective on the aesthetic and mnemonic qualities of the Savior's speech, highlighting the continuity between the Old Testament prophetic style and the New Testament message. This volume remains a significant resource for students of biblical criticism, theology, and the literary history of the Bible, shedding light on the artistic craftsmanship that underscores the profound spiritual truths of the Christian faith.
