A joyful and unique wordless picture book with an environmental message, made with striking illustrations painted on old cardboard boxes.
Knock knock! A young boy opens his door to find a surprising visitor: a playful polar bear! Boy and bear spend the day together - dancing, sneaking snacks and hiding from Omma - and the boy's world is transformed by his unexpected new friend, who helps him see life in an exciting new way.
Park Jihee is an emerging illustrator from South Korea. Jihee studied painting in South Korea and fine art in Spain. The illustrations for her debut picture book, The Polar Bear Day, were hand-drawn and painted on discarded cardboard, conveying a subtle message about environmental responsibility. She lives in Busan, South Korea, where she spends most of her time working in her studio by the sea.
