Q: What age is this intended for?
A: The book's language is purposefully geared towards older elementary ages, but has been read and tested with preschool and up and they LOVED it The more advanced language means that this book can be enjoyed for years and years, and will still be helpful when a child is developmentally able to understand identity and adoption.
Q: Does this book describe how adoption works?
A: The Polaris-Away is a fanciful book about the wonder of adoption. It's story allows you to draw metaphors to apply to your child's story. Adoption comes in MANY forms, so this allows it to apply to all types.
Q: Is the book helpful for non-adopted children?
A: Absolutely The Howards wrote The Polaris-Away with their own nieces and nephews in mind as they were going through the adoption process. In these cases, it serves as a guide for explaining why their new cousins came to live with a "new mommy and daddy".
