Being a former horse-crazy little girl herself, W J Ryder wanted a horse of her own and eventually bought a two year old palomino American Quarter horse. She named her Orla, which, in Ireland, means Golden Princess. Because she was so young, W J started telling Orla made up stories, as if reading to her at bedtime. Watching her ears twitch back and forth as she listened, W J knew Orla was enjoying the stories and she decided to write some down! Illustrating her stories herself was just a bonus. W J Ryder is a Brit - now living in the USA, with her horse, Orla, and a cat, Loki the Little Lion.
