While traveling through desolate terrain on the Second Quest of his Nasi training, Adam stumbles upon an even greater impossibility: a village of Old Gannahans who'd survived both the Karkar Plague a generation ago, and the more recent Great Disaster that altered the face of the whole planet. Everybody knows there are no Old Gannahans left, so their existence is hard to believe. Harder yet, it seems that one of them is the true heir to the throne.
