The Promise of His Presence: 16 Weeks of Finding God in the Midst of Suffering
By Hilda H. McClure, LPC

In seasons of pain, uncertainty, and unanswered questions, it can feel as though God has stepped back-or worse, disappeared altogether. The Promise of His Presence is a 16-week devotional journey designed to gently guide you back to the nearness of God, especially in the moments when He feels farthest away.

Blending Scripture, personal reflection, contemplative prayer, and creative spiritual practices, licensed counselor Hilda H. McClure offers a tender, honest, and deeply compassionate companion for those walking through suffering. Each week explores a biblical passage that reveals God's character in fresh ways-from the God who breathes life into dry places, to the High Priest who enters our pain, to the Savior who meets us in our doubts, our weariness, and our wrestlings.

Every week includes:

• Day 1: Reading & Personal Reflection - slow down and encounter the passage with honesty

• Day 2: Contemplative Prayer - learn to rest in God's nearness

• Day 3: Deeper Reflection - engage both heart and mind

• Day 4: Creative Practice - express truth through art, writing, or movement

• Day 5: Community & Service - practice faith in relationship

• Day 6: Rest Practice - breathe, release, and make space for God

This devotional is not about striving or performing-it is about presence. It invites you to discover a God who moves toward you first, who sits with you in the ache, who wrestles with you in the night, who nurtures even the smallest mustard seed of faith, and who prepares a table for you even when you cannot yet see it.

Whether you're grieving, overwhelmed, healing, or simply longing for deeper connection with God, The Promise of His Presence offers a grounding, gentle path toward hope. You may not walk away with all the answers-but you will walk away changed, strengthened, and held by the One who never leaves.

He is near. Even here. Even now.
