Author Frank Tilton is an amalgam of curiosity, careers, and continual education. Now a retired middle school teacher of German and English, Tilton was first a career U.S. Air Force officer. The California native enlisted in the Air Force at age 17. He served with NATO in Europe and with air defense forces in the United States. By the time he was ready to launch his second career, teaching, he had garnered one bachelor's degree in German, another in English/Journalism, and a master's degree in Radio/Television. At age 42 Tilton shed the Air Force blue uniform and spent the next 19 years in Indiana middle school classrooms educating well over 7,000 teenagers. He now lives in Virginia and is married to the former Josefine Lohse of Germany. He has two grown children and four grandchildren.
