Description
xOver 80% of all new businesses fail within the first five years of operation. Why?
Many reasons, but one is universal: 'Hope Springs Eternal'.
Hope will not overcome all the obstacles, nor will it make all the people you must deal with suddenly become honest.
Hope will not instantly give you the superpowers of marketing, staff management, financial acuity, negotiating prowess, unbounded energy, or be a panacea to stress.
Imagine that some of the multitude of books, courses, workshops, consultants, and magic potions actually worked and reduced the failure rate from 80% to 40% - would this be wonderful? Think about it for a second. Would it be wonderful?
That would give you twice as many businesses in operation - twice as many hairdressers, dog-washes, accountants, butchers, bakers and candlestick makers.
Not twice as much money to spend in these new enterprises - just the same amount now needing to support twice as many businesses.
There is only one book that can increase the success rate from 20% to 40% without destroying the economy. 'The Quantum Leap - Owning Your First Business' tells you things that you will not learn elsewhere, and it can definitely save your life savings and your sanity.
The author, Colin S L Mackie, has spent a long and exciting life in business. Many of his own enterprises, starting as a child and commencing his first 'real' business at 19, and working over 100 hours a week and helping him to own two houses by his 21st birthday, and later as a consultant building businesses, and being the most recognised Franchisee Selection Agent in Australia, where he had the privilege of working with 100's of people entering business for the first time. This is not knowledge you can learn from a book, nor is it something you will learn without an open and enquiring mind over decades, and a solid understanding of psychology and human nature.
Inside, you will discover:
- Why up to 80% of businesses fail-and how to avoid becoming one of them
- The four essential pillars required for genuine business success
- How to recognise whether you truly have the mindset required for ownership
- The hidden financial, emotional, and family costs of business ownership
- Why enthusiasm, timing, and personal virtues matter more than business plans
- How to avoid catastrophic mistakes when buying your first business
- The real difference between business owners, self-employed workers, and entrepreneurs
This book does not promise easy success. Instead, it gives you something far more valuable: clarity.
Whether you are considering buying your first business, already own one, or simply want to understand the realities behind entrepreneurship, The Quantum Leap may be the most important business book you ever read.
