The Ramrod Broken: Or The Bible, History, And Common Sense In Favor Of The Moderate Use Of Good Spirituous Liquors (1859) (Paperback) (ISBN-13: 9781165155934)

""The Ramrod Broken"" is a thought-provoking book written by a New England journalist in 1859. The author presents a compelling argument in favor of the moderate consumption of good spirituous liquors, using the Bible, history, and common sense as his sources of evidence. The book challenges the prevailing notion of the time that all forms of alcohol consumption are inherently sinful and harmful to individuals and society as a whole. The author argues that, when consumed in moderation, good spirituous liquors can have beneficial effects on both physical and mental health. Throughout the book, the author draws on historical examples of societies where alcohol was consumed in moderation without any negative consequences. He also references biblical passages that suggest that alcohol consumption is not inherently sinful, but rather that it is excessive consumption that is condemned. ""The Ramrod Broken"" is a well-researched and thought-provoking book that challenges traditional beliefs about alcohol consumption. It is a must-read for anyone interested in the history of alcohol consumption and the role of alcohol in society.Showing The Advantage Of A License System In Preference To Prohibition, And Moral In Preference To Legal Suasion. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
