As a child, Katharine Schopp spent countless hours lost in the pages of her favorite books. When the books ended, she would miss the characters so much that she'd run to her Mom to ask, "What happens next?" Her Mom would always say, "Whatever you want to happen next will happen next. You can make anything happen, in your imagination." Those words made the budding writer love reading all the more...because now she could control the endings. She went from imagining new endings to books to writing her own stories, poems, and plays. As an adult and third grade teacher, Katharine shared her passion for reading and writing with her students. As a writer, Katharine hopes to provide children with the same thrilling sense of anticipation and escape that books gave her as a child. "When you hold a book in your hands, you are holding an entire magical world, where anything can hapen. In books, children can do anything. I want to give children that same sense of empowerment, while still providing a fun escape from their every day lives. When children read my books I want them to know that their thoughts, dreams, and feelings are important...that they are important, and that nothing is impossible."
