The Recommendation Engine: A Workplace Enemies-to-Lovers Romcom (Paperback) (ISBN-13: 9798235209176)

Kara Brennan trusts data.

Data doesn't lie. People do.

As the brilliant but notoriously blunt reliability engineer at Vantage Logistics, Kara has built her life around one simple rule: if she can solve the problem, she never has to need anyone else. Her AI assistant, Margaret, helps smooth the rough edges of her personality, catch what others miss, and keep the world running exactly as it should.

Daniel Park has a different strategy.

The talented platform architect has spent years making sure everyone around him is comfortable, happy, and supported-even when it means swallowing what he really wants. His AI assistant, Box, was designed to help him speak up, advocate for himself, and stop being the guy who always says yes.

For four years, Kara and Daniel have been workplace rivals separated by a carpet seam, competing departments, and enough technical disagreements to power an entire company.

Then management makes a terrible decision.

With a massive platform migration threatening to derail the company, Kara and Daniel are assigned as co-leads on the most important project of their careers. Suddenly they're sharing meetings, solving crises together, arguing over architecture, negotiating coffee-machine treaties, and spending far more time in each other's orbit than either of them planned.

The problem?

Their AI assistants have been quietly analyzing the data.

And the data keeps reaching the same conclusion.

No matter how many reports Kara edits, constraints she adds, or recommendations Daniel ignores, the numbers stubbornly insist that the two engineers work better together than either does alone.

As deadlines tighten, systems fail, and carefully constructed walls begin to crack, Kara and Daniel must decide whether some conclusions can't be optimized away-and whether the scariest risk either of them has ever faced isn't professional failure, but letting themselves be truly seen.

Filled with sharp banter, workplace rivalry, laugh-out-loud humor, unforgettable AI sidekicks, and a deeply satisfying slow-burn romance, The Recommendation Engine is a heartwarming romantic comedy about finding the one person who understands you better than your algorithms do.
