The Regulated Team: Mindfulness, Compassion & Nervous System Awareness for Dog Agility and Wellbeing (Paperback) (ISBN-13: 9798276897417)

A practical, compassionate guide to navigating agility through the lens of two nervous systems-yours and your dog's.

When her working cocker suddenly shut down at a show, therapist and agility newcomer Rainbow Therapy Tools discovered how little support existed for handlers trying to understand overwhelm, pressure and emotional collapse in dogs-or in themselves.

The Regulated Team bridges that gap, offering clear, accessible explanations of arousal, stress, shutdown and co-regulation drawn from person-centred therapy, mindfulness and trauma-informed practice.

This book is designed for handlers of all backgrounds, including those who are new to the sport, working with sensitive or high-drive dogs, or navigating anxiety, neurodivergence or performance pressure. It includes short reflective prompts, gentle practical tools and breed-specific nervous-system insights to help you understand what your dog's behaviour is communicating-and how to support both ends of the lead.

Learn how to:

- recognise early signs of overwhelm or shutdown
- support your dog through clarity, safety and predictable routines
- manage your own emotional responses, nerves and self-criticism
- prepare both nervous systems for training and competition
- build a more connected, sustainable partnership through compassion and awareness

The Regulated Team is not a technical handling manual-it's a wellbeing companion for anyone seeking a calmer, clearer and more attuned approach to agility.
