The Return of Cuchulain (Fantasy and Horror Classics) (Paperback) (ISBN-13: 9781447404019)

From the imaginative mind of Eimar O' Duffy, a brilliant figure in 20th-century Irish literature and a master of satirical fantasy, comes a legendary work that humorously and critically blends ancient myth with modern society.

The Return of Cuchulain resurrects the greatest hero of Irish mythology, the mighty, peerless warrior Cuchulain only to place him squarely in contemporary Ireland (early 20th century). Brought back to life in a world of political confusion, bewildering technology, and unfamiliar social customs, the legendary champion attempts to apply his ancient code of heroic honor to a land that has long since forgotten it. The result is a profound, often hilarious, and bitingly sharp satire on everything from Irish nationalism and social hypocrisy to the decline of heroism in the modern age.

This novel is an essential read for fans of Celtic mythology, modern fantasy classics, and deeply clever social satire. Experience the comic and tragic confusion of a hero out of time.
