In the dream, his friend Alexinus has been transmuted into a Ptérosaure, a flying dinosaur by Niddrym, the sorceress. He tells Merlin she had stolen the Sacred Staff and that she still lives. Merlin is on a mission and with two newly acquired friends, a persistently curious female reporter and Tom, he ventures into an ancient world; a dangerous world - and that's where their frightening adventures begin...!

David was born in 1936. His father was killed in France in 1940, the early stages of the war. He was evacuated at the age of four, returning home almost six years later. He joined the Merchant Navy at sixteen, emigrated to New Zealand at seventeen and was recruited into the NZ Army at eighteen. He married at twenty one and helped raise three children. He arrived back in the UK in 1994. Two years later, at the age of sixty, he started a Tour Boat business on the Brighton Marina. Ten years later he was diagnosed with prostate cancer, sold his business and retired the following year. In 2009, at the age of 73 he walked around England for Cancer Research UK and the ACRF (Australian Cancer Research Federation). His first Book The Big Walk, a day-to-day account of his epic charity event, was published in 2012. In 2014 he wrote The Mud Pack', a fiction novel and a year later he completed his third book, 'If Only...!', a romantic work. His latest book, 'The Rise of Merlin', is his first venture into the fantasy genre.
