The Road to Now Here: from nowhere to now here (Hardcover) (ISBN-13: 9781036971663)

The Road to Now Here is a quietly surreal, emotionally resonant work of autofiction that blends memory, imagination, and the strange edges of ordinary life.

August 1975. Two students - John, the literary rebel, and Dave, the introspective coder - set out from Derby Station on a motorcycle journey to Cornwall. When their train is delayed, they step into a waiting room that feels suspended outside time. A clown with a brittle smile, a rabbit clutching a pocket watch, a nurse who seems to know more than she should - each encounter nudges them toward the edges of the real.

What begins as a simple holiday becomes a meditation on youth, identity, and the stories we carry. As the journey unfolds, memories surface, regrets stir, and the road ahead becomes a place where the past whispers and the future waits. The friends navigate both the literal landscape of 1970s England and the inner terrain of fear, humour, grief, and wonder.

Blending lived experience with mythic undertones, JD Noone crafts a tribute to a lost friend and to the strange magic of being young at a moment when everything feels possible. This is a story about friendship, curiosity, and the quiet moments that shape a life long after the journey ends.

For readers drawn to literary fiction, magical realism, and reflective coming-of-age stories, The Road to Now Here offers a compelling exploration of how memory bends, how reality shimmers, and how the road never truly ends - it only changes direction.
