The Shadow Over Myeong-dong (Hardcover) (ISBN-13: 9781917972550)

Martin Dench's 18th novel finds him charting exciting new territory, exploring Korean mythology and reincarnation to create a remarkable, timeless story in which love truly proves stronger than death.

It is the year 647. Princess Jeonghwa of the Korean kingdom of Silla is married into the powerful Tang dynasty of Imperial China. Unwanted by her husband and valued only as a political bargaining tool, she finds herself at the centre of a terrible, brutal tragedy that will change her life forever.

Thirteen centuries later, in 2001, Kade Morgan travels with his Korean girlfriend Sunny Lee and his agent Moon Park to Seoul to commence work on a book that he hopes will make him the darling of the alien-conspiracy world. He soon discovers, however, that the plan he had mapped out for his trip is entirely different to the one that karma has in store.

Accompanied by his enigmatic and mysterious interpreter Geulimja, Kade is plunged into a hidden world he never imagined could exist. A world in which the creatures of ancient myth step out of the shadows of the past to seize the present.

And, when the events of 647 begin to play out once again in 2001, Kade begins to realise that only a supreme sacrifice can end the story and save the woman he loves.
