The Shape of Wind: Poems on Change and Time (Paperback) (ISBN-13: 9798277609170)

The Shape of Wind is a lyrical journey through the shifting landscapes of memory, home, and the quiet transformations that shape a life. In this deeply evocative collection, Erin Middlestone invites readers to walk with her through childhood's sunlit rooms, along the roads of departure, and into the tender spaces where loss and longing meet growth and renewal.

These poems hum with the bittersweet ache of nostalgia - a remembrance of porch mornings and backyard secrets, of paper boats and whispered games - held up against the inevitable pull of time that asks us to let go even as we yearn to hold on.

With a voice both intimate and expansive, Middlestone explores the invisible winds that move us: the failures and triumphs, the empty rooms and blooming gardens, the letters written and never sent. Each poem becomes a door into another moment, another version of the self, revealing how every departure carries the echo of home and every return reshapes what we once knew.

The collection balances delicately between joy and sorrow, tracing the contours of change with gentleness, honesty, and wonder.

For readers who have ever stood on the threshold of leaving, who have ever felt the tug of old photographs or the warmth of remembered laughter, this book offers companionship and clarity.

The Shape of Wind is an invitation to reflect, to breathe deeply, and to honor the quiet, enduring beauty of becoming. These poems remind us that while time moves endlessly forward, the heart remembers - softly, fiercely, and always in motion, like the wind.
