The Shorthand Sleuth 2: Fakes and Frauds (Paperback) (ISBN-13: 9798249787318)

A captivating account of the continuing successes enjoyed by Phillis Philpot, proprietor of her business "Phil Philpot Forensic Phonographer". She cleverly combines her knowledge of shorthand, and its history, with her uncanny ability to detect evidence which others overlook.
Set in 1950's Melbourne, the independent young woman has made a name for herself as a shorthand court reporter. However, publicity surrounding her latest cases as a forensic phonographer has increased her fame and enhanced the reputation of her business.
Among her latest cases, Phillis discovers a murder thought to be suicide, she uncovers local government corruption and blackmail and becomes the prime witness in an international art fraud case. Throughout these cases, Phillis develops a close working relationship with a shy, young detective, who admires her skill, and ability to unearth pivotal details which prove to be highly consequential evidence. These qualities, however, are not all he admires about Phillis.
