Three Improbable Heroes

Long ago, the nations of the Westerlunds banded together to oppose a powerful witch bent on their subjugation. Though ultimately victorious, theirs was a hollow triumph. Before disappearing from recorded history, she cursed her enemies to an existence of distrust, disunity, and despair.

Three long centuries later, fate brings together three unlikely candidates for restoring hope to this dark age:

• A despised minority. Rescued from a ritual sacrifice, her past is a mysterious unknown.
• A social outcast. An unwanted burden in the eyes of his culture, he has no future.
• A jaded mercenary. It has been years since either past or future have held any meaning for her.

Thrown together on a winding road of self-discovery, this trio of outsiders unwittingly treads the path of a prophecy long since forgotten by those it was meant to save; one that holds the key to the Westerlunds' redemption.

But there is one who understands their significance. She has no intention of allowing her curse to be broken.
