The Smartest-Working Person in the Room: The (often-hilarious) guide to efficiency for principals and other leaders (Paperback) (ISBN-13: 9798992932614)

Principals and other organizational leaders are stretched thin, over-tasked, and constantly interrupted by the tyranny of the urgent. But being busy isn't the same as being effective.

In this refreshingly honest, often funny, and always practical guide, veteran principal and educational leader Spencer Allen offers a better way. Drawing on years of school leadership experience (and a healthy dose of trial and error), he shares eight transformative principles to help school administrators stop chasing their to-do lists and start leading with purpose.

You'll learn how to:

• Close the open door (without closing yourself off)

• Replace chaotic multitasking with focused time-blocking

• Conquer email clutter and model communication best practices

• Use AI as a helpful assistant, not a distracting gimmick

• Delegate with clarity, lead better meetings, and feedback that matters

• Reclaim your calendar, your mission, and your balance

Whether you're a new administrator or a seasoned leader looking to recalibrate, this book is your invitation to stop trying to be the hardest-working person in the room-and start becoming the smartest-working one instead.
