Police and the prosecution have made no statement regarding the means by which Pitt may have dispatched Miss Averdantis. However it came out in Grand Jury testimony that Pitt cannot account for his whereabouts at the victim's time of death. The victim was found nude in the bathtub of the loft she shared with Pitt.
