In this Cold War thriller, five American soldiers have been brainwashed by Russia to act as double agents. Colonel Brick Autry knows that there are five ticking time bombs out there, but he has no clue when or where they will go off!
Autry, introduced in Michael Ferrara's first novel, The Land of the Million Elephants, is still recovering from the trauma he suffered in the jungles of Vietnam when he was powerless to save his best friend. To cope, the military man throws himself into his work on the National Security Council. He is one of the first to know about the dangerous double agents. And the United States isn't the only superpower worried about the spies. One of these "Sons of Lubyanka" has turned rogue and is threatening to take down both America and Russia in his insane schemes.
As Autry tracks the five across Europe, he grows closer to Briana Little, an FBI agent also assigned the case. Their relationship gives Autry hope for his future, but first he will have to confront his past and bury his ghosts once and for all.
Michael Ferrara is a graduate of Syracuse University, the Air Force Institute of Technology, and the Stanford Graduate School of Management. He served nine years in the US Air Force and was stationed in Thailand during the Vietnam War.
Ferrara then spent thirty years working on Wall Street. Since retiring, he has written two novels: The Land of the Million Elephants and now its sequel, The Sons of Lubyanka. He has been married for forty years to his wife, Catherine. The couple lives in Charleston, South Carolina.
