The Stone in the Heart: A Mindful Story About Overcoming Self-Doubt, Taming Your Inner Critic, and the Power of Being Kind to Yourself (Ages 5-9) (Paperback) (ISBN-13: 9798244551167)

What do you do when a voice inside tells you that you aren't good enough?

In the quiet valley of Oakhaven, Soren dreams of being a master builder. He wants to create a tower that reaches the clouds, but every time he picks up a stone, a shadow stirs beneath his ribs. It is Grumble, the Troll of the Mind.

Grumble's voice sounds like grinding gravel, whispering mean things: "That's crooked. You're going to drop it. Why even try?"

Soren tries to fight the troll. He shouts at the shadows and swings a practice sword to drive the whispers away. But he soon discovers a frustrating secret: the harder he fights and the angrier he gets, the bigger and spikier Grumble grows.

Join Soren on a journey of discovery as he learns a different way to handle his doubts. Instead of fighting, he tries something brave and new-he speaks to himself with kindness.

This transformative story helps children:

• Identify Their Inner Critic: Gives kids a way to visualize and talk about the negative thoughts or "Grumble" voices they might experience.

• Practice Positive Self-Talk: Provides a practical example of how saying "It's okay to be a beginner" can change how we feel.

• Understand Emotional Regulation: Shows that fighting anger with more anger only makes the "troll" bigger, while calm words can soften the hardest spikes.

• Build Resilience: Encourages children to keep building and trying, even when things fall down.

A must-have for any child who struggles with perfectionism or the fear of making mistakes.
