ABOUT THE AUTHOR Gail Kersh Kiracofe grew up during "The Great Depression", the time in which this little story is set. Born in Mishawaka, Indiana, she enjoyed one career as a military officer's wife and another as a council executive with the Girl Scouts of the USA. She lives in a retirement community in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia and loves writing about those 'days gone by'. ABOUT THE ILLUSTRATOR Linda Rafferty is a self-taught artist who has had a passion for art since a young child. She currently lives in the Northern Virginia area where she paints murals and commissioned art in homes and businesses. This is her first opportunity as a children's book illustrator.
