Andrew Townsend is a retired college professor and is the author of seven previous books. He is a life-long meditator and began his practice of meditation in 1969 when he was initiated into Transcendental Meditation. In 1972, Mr. Townsend was initiated by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi as a TM teacher. Over the ensuing years, Mr. Townsend has studied Buddhist vipassana meditation and Taoist inner neigong spiritual cultivation. For the past quarter century, Mr. Townsend has combined his silent meditation with the practice of moving meditation in the form of Tai Chi and Qigong. Mr. Townsend is a designated Tai Chi Master and is a disciple of Grandmaster Jesse Tsao, an internationally renowned authority on Tai Chi and Qigong. In this capacity, he has authored two books on the principles and practice of Tai Chi and Qiqong. Mr. Townsend lives in Ormond-by-the-Sea with his wife, Deyanire, where he teaches meditation, Tai Chi, and Qigong.
