The Third Act: How an Outsider Reverse-Engineered Silicon Valley (Paperback) (ISBN-13: 9798996772704)

Sonja V. Lutz arrived in New York with a German degree, no network, and a husband with an interesting opportunity. Twenty years later, she is a CMO, a co-founder, a Growth Architect, and the woman who has been in the rooms most women are still trying to get into. The Third Act is the career memoir Silicon Valley never wrote about itself, told by the woman who lived it.

She spent more than a decade, after her early career at Philip Morris and MontBlanc, navigating one of the most powerful and least transparent professional ecosystems on earth. A four year run at JustAnswer that earned her two promotions and five international markets, a Facebook war room in the middle of the Cambridge Analytica crisis two weeks into her role, growing a company's revenue in the middle of a pandemic, and the years between them all built the kind of experience no course could teach her. That is how she arrived at knowing exactly what she was worth and exactly what she was willing to accept.

This book is a field guide from someone who has been inside the machine and come out the other side with her values intact and a clear picture of what the game actually looks like without the glossy Silicon Valley filter on. It is for everyone who has ever been told they are too much, too emotional, too direct, or not enough, and for everyone who has taken the long way and is beginning to understand that the long way was the point all along.

The Third Act is not a reinvention. It is a recognition.
