J.D. Smith, also known to his family and friends as Joshua Dean Smith, has always held a deep interest in literature and the performing arts since he was a child. As he pursued his interest in the performing arts, specifically theatre, he also developed a love for musical theatre. His interest in literature was furthered by his obsession with reading at a young age, and whether the novels be contemporary and modern, or classic and timeless tales, they were the one thing able to capture and captivate his often scattered attention. He first began writing when he was eight, and decided to be a writer when he was ten. He was influenced mostly by Edgar Allan Poe, as he enjoyed Poe's sense of dark that often overshadowed the romance that J.D. believed was hidden within Poe's writing. As J.D. reached adolescence, he received a stronger interest in the romantically macabre of the supernatural world, while also indulging himself in poetry and songwriting. Ever since he resolved to be a writer, his life long goal has been to write the next Great American Novel, and, while he may not achieve that goal through this book, he pledged to write until the day he dies. His only hope is that he has enough time to write down all he has to say.
