The Tiny Knights of Greenhill (Paperback) (ISBN-13: 9798182810197)

At midnight, twelve-year-old Briar Honeywood looks out from his bedroom window and sees something impossible happening in the ordinary garden behind his home. A stone garden gnome cracks open, revealing Commander Sage Brightfield, a six-inch knight armed with a sword forged from a discarded garden trowel. Tiny soldiers emerge from their petrified shells as shadow-hounds attack the garden. When Briar rushes outside to help, he crosses an invisible boundary and is pulled into the hidden realm of the Sward. His human body is compressed to six inches, the familiar lawn expands into a vast landscape, and every blade of grass, clover stem, paving stone, and mushroom becomes part of an enormous world. There he meets the Tiny Knights of Greenhill, guardians who have fought for generations to protect their miniature kingdom from forces moving through the darkness.Briar soon discovers that his arrival is not an accident. The Leyline has allowed a mortal child to cross the veil, and his unusual awareness, courage, and connection to the living earth may be important to the survival of Greenhill. Guided by Commander Sage and joined by young scouts and other defenders, he travels through towering grasslands, dandelion forests, rhododendron hollows, underground passages, peat terraces, and a giant mushroom forest. The journey becomes increasingly dangerous as shadow-creatures threaten the kingdom and the ancient balance of the Sward begins to fail. Briar must learn how to move through a world where ordinary garden objects become weapons, fortresses, mountains, and gateways. Along the way, he discovers that courage is not measured by size and that protecting a tiny kingdom can require the heart of a giant. The Tiny Knights of Greenhill is a detailed fantasy adventure filled with miniature warriors, living plants, magical ley-lines, shadow beasts, and hidden realms beneath an ordinary backyard. At its center is a story of friendship, bravery, responsibility, and a boy discovering that the strange world beneath his feet may have been waiting for him all along. The miniature setting gives familiar backyard details a spectacular new scale, turning an everyday garden into a dangerous realm of ancient history, heroic quests, and unexpected wonder.
