Thomas McKinley, a recently retired Marine Corps officer, goes to Honduras to research a book on the Contras. In the town of Danl not far from the Nicaraguan border, he meets Honduran-American Elena Johnson de Vasquez - attractive, divorced, the well-off owner of a local cigar factory, and very good with a gun. While seeking information for his book and asking questions that nobody seems to want to answer, Tom and Elena arouse the suspicions of a local Arab marijuana grower and trafficker and become embroiled in an international plot involving the U.S., Russia, and China. Interwoven with substories revolving around key foreign characters and against a background of growing romance, there is plenty of action as Tom and Elena defend themselves against assassins and take down the criminals behind the plot.

W.H. Wheeler has authored a number of novels to date: The Uighur Plot, an action novel with heroes Tom McKinley and Elena Johnson de Vasquez fighting an international conspiracy involving rogue intelligence agents, drug traffickers, and arms dealers; Long Memory, the first in the Harry Logan Mysteries series; Murder on the Set, the second Harry Logan mystery novel; and Merlin's Rings with heroine Sylvia Gonzalez, a tale about the modern successors to the Arthurian Merlin's powers and an interdimensional duty. He also authored two high-interest low-vocabulary novellas for teenagers. Multilingual, he once received World Science Fiction's Karel Award for excellence in translation of science fiction, for an international sci-fi magazine he published. Mr. Wheeler was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, and has lived since the mid-60's in Southern California.
