John H. Wyndham, a Dutch-born officer with the Royal Australian Air Force, was a prisoner of war for three years on the island of Java during the Second World War. How he dealt with this, and how he later became engaged in a successful business, makes for inspiring reading. He was UNICEF's Assistant Director of Public Information in New York, and then UNICEF's Director of Public Information for Europe, based in Paris. His ten years of lecture tours included travel all over the United States, and to Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Europe, and Africa, speaking in English, Dutch, German and Afrikaans.
