Jonathon, a functional alcoholic with a secret past wrought with violence, has been running around the world teaching English because he got his heart broken by his runway model ex-girlfriend. After ten years of teaching, he lands a tutoring job in the remotest region of southern China. His new employer, Moguai is a billionaire recluse living in a castle who only appears at night. The luxurious castle is full of mysterious elevators, secret rooms, exotic cars, priceless toys, and a Soviet fighter jet.

The castle's staff includes a gorgeous yet plain mute scullery maid that survived Nanking, Moguai's head of security, an Asian-American Marine wanted by the CIA, and most mysterious of all, Moguai's personal physician, a German hematologist who sporadically appears between forty-three and ninety-eight years old.

Jonathon accepts employment because of the overly-generous salary, despite being warned to never leave the castle grounds due to murderous bandits and man-hunting wolves.

The Tutor is an action-thriller boasting a forest with mutant carnivorous deer and a Frankenstein corpse, super cars, human-animal hybrid super-soldiers, clairvoyant food, a medley of monsters, dueling scars, a monopoly on human blood, a two-hundred year old Nazi scientist, and an evil fountain of youth.
