My interest in lions, as far as I can recollect, came about the day I watched Lion King for the first time as a boy. As the movie played, I grew more and more intrigued by the regal appeal of Mufasa. I gravitated towards his poise, how he walked about the grasslands confidently, and it drew something within me... Unbeknown to me, I was beholding a good example of manhood. As I sat in front of that old block television with my small frame and wide eyes, something began to grow within me. A desire broke forth and emerged from the flesh of my heart. It was the desire to be a man who possessed those same qualities I saw in that beautiful creature, and though this was the beginning of a powerful emerge, it would be met with great adversity.

Fast forward some ten years later and I find myself seated in the back of an SUV in an alley under the cover of night. I carried a piece of steel in my right hand and wore a black bandanna over my face. What followed wasn't in any fashion pleasant.
