The Way We Raised Them: What Happened to Respect, Values, and Family?

What happened to the days when children respected their elders, neighbors helped raise each other's kids, and family values were the foundation of the home?

From "yes ma'am" and "no sir" to smartphones, social media, and modern parenting struggles, The Way We Raised Them takes a heartfelt and honest look at how parenting has evolved across four generations in America and what we may have gained, lost, and forgotten along the way.

With humor, wisdom, and deeply relatable storytelling, Vgdawson explores the changing dynamics between parents and children from the 1940s to today's digital generation. Through real-life scenarios, emotional reflections, and laugh-out-loud moments, this book examines:

How respect and discipline have changed over the generations.

Why today's children think differently from previous generations.

The impact of technology, social media, and modern culture on family values.

The emotional shift from fear-based parenting to emotionally aware parenting.

What happens when children leave home and whether the lessons we taught them truly stayed with them.

How to reconnect with children, grandchildren, and family in a changing world.

This is not a book about blaming one generation over another.

It's about understanding the journey of parenting; the struggles, sacrifices, mistakes, and love that shaped families through the decades.

Whether you are a parent, grandparent, educator, or someone trying to make sense of how family dynamics have changed, this book will make you laugh, reflect, and perhaps even see your own story within its pages.

Because parenting never truly ends; it simply changes with every generation.
