Published to celebrate the 900th anniversary of the Worshipful Company of Weavers, this richly illustrated book is a tribute to the creativity, resourcefulness, and passion behind weaving in Britain today. Visiting a wide range of makers, from handloom weavers creating individual works of art to industrial textile mills producing cloth for the world's leading design brands, the authors take us into a vibrant, colourful, noisy world. They visit art schools and universities; the weavers of tweed, tartan, cashmere and silk, and the makers of high-tech fabrics used in spacecraft, aeroplanes and cars, medical and engineering applications, furnishings, upholstery, fashion and accessories. They also explore a variety of sustainable, vegan and eco-friendly fabrics.
