Lisa Marie Gabriel was born into a family that knows about flying and military service. Her father was in the RAF and flew as a pilot when young. Although interested in flying her eyesight was never good enough to become a pilot so she took to boats and guitars instead and eventually became a music teacher. Now retired and scraping a living as composer, poet and author, she shares a simple life between family and friends in British Columbia and rural Lincolnshire where much of this novel is set. She is owned by a clowder of rescue Persian cats, lives in a house that is happy but has seen better days and enjoys a quiet village lifestyle. Periodic forays into politics satisfy her desire to see an equal society where liberal values, respect and common sense prevail over bigotry and prejudice. When not writing poetry, stories, or pieces of music you will usually find her sitting by her self-built koi pond and watching over cats and birds.
