Michael Thornton lived in Kyoto, Japan from 1964 through 1986. He is the author of a film script, "The Fable of the Wen: A Japanese Folktale." Three of his novellas have been collected in the volume, "Camellias, Skull, & Sword: Grotesque and Curious Tales of Japan." The first in his planned series of books for children is titled "The Animal Garden."
