The Youth Movement in China (Paperback) (ISBN-13: 9781026100196)

"The Youth Movement in China" offers a profound sociological and historical analysis of the transformative social changes occurring in early 20th-century China. Written during a pivotal era of national awakening, Tsi C. Wang explores the origins and development of the modern Chinese student movement, tracing its evolution from traditional Confucian scholarship to a dynamic force for political and cultural change.

The work delves into the psychological and social factors that galvanized the younger generation, particularly focusing on the intellectual ferment that followed the landmark May Fourth Movement. It examines how Chinese youth sought to modernize their nation by challenging archaic traditions and embracing new global ideologies. Wang provides detailed insights into educational shifts, the rise of nationalism, and the specific role of student organizations in shaping the country's destiny during the 1920s.

By documenting the struggles and aspirations of the vanguard of Chinese society, this book remains a vital primary source for understanding the social foundations of modern China. It provides a unique contemporary perspective on the identity shifts that redefined the nation and paved the way for future political transformations. This study is essential for readers interested in Asian history, the sociology of youth, and the global history of student activism.
