Theosis Through Kenosis- Mysti-Physics: Participatory Theology of Christian Suffering from the analysis of RGL's Doctrine of Infused Contemplation and (Paperback) (ISBN-13: 9798253807385)

For centuries, the phenomenon of the "victim soul" has fascinated and perplexed the faithful. How do we theologically comprehend the extraordinary agonies, dark nights, and ecstasies of modern mystics? Is infused contemplation a rare anomaly reserved for a chosen few, or is it the normal, intended development of sanctifying grace for every believer?

In this rigorous doctoral thesis, A Participatory Theology of Christian Suffering, Jubin Kurian presents a groundbreaking synthesis of dogmatic theology and profound mysticism. By applying the authoritative Thomistic framework of Rev. Reginald Garrigou-Lagrange (RGL) to the extraordinary lived experience of St. Padre Pio of Pietrelcina, this work decodes the spiritual mechanics of the Cross.

Rather than viewing the stigmata and spiritual desolation of Padre Pio as terrifying exceptions, this research proves they are the ultimate, visible manifestations of a soul in the "transforming union"-where human suffering actively participates in the redemptive work of Christ.

Inside this comprehensive academic study, readers will discover:

• The Doctrine of Infused Contemplation: A deep-dive into RGL's assertion that mystical union is the normal flowering of the virtues and the gifts of the Holy Spirit.

• The Evolution of Victimhood: A historical and theological exploration of "Victimhood Spirituality" as it developed after the 17th century.

• The Theology of Padre Pio: A rigorous case study of the Friar of Pietrelcina, framing his physical agonies and spiritual warfare not as mere miracles, but as the pinnacle of participatory redemption.

• The Mechanics of Co-Redemption: A systematic explanation of how temporal suffering is transformed into a vehicle for divine union and mass salvation.

Meticulously researched and profoundly illuminating, this thesis elevates the concept of vicarious suffering from abstract piety into a precise, architectural theology.

Perfect for theologians, clergy, students of Carmelite and Dominican spirituality, and devotees of St. Padre Pio, this book offers a paradigm-shifting understanding of what it truly means to be crucified with Christ.
