Think about the last time you were outside in your garden or backyard... What types of things did you see?
There was probably a lot of grass around you, and maybe there were some flowers, bushes, or trees. Perhaps you saw a bird fly by, or saw some fuzzy, furry animals scurrying around. These are the big, beautiful things we all recognize in nature, the things we all know and love. But there is a lot more!
There's a Bug in My Blossom is a delightful children's book about the world's most overlooked critters-the bugs lurking just beneath our noses. Comprised of a collection of stunning, vibrant photographs alongside fun facts about what's happening in the scene, this book introduces some of the tiny workers in our big world and explains the unique role each plays. It's a must-read for inquisitive young minds and is sure to captivate readers' interest and encourage their curiosity, no matter their age.
Written for both early and more advanced readers, There's a Bug in My Blossom is best as a shared reading experience.
Author and photographer J. C. Donaho recommends that, after you enjoy this book, you go out in nature and experience the real thing.
J. C. Donaho holds a BS in zoo administration from Texas A&M University, though his involvement with animals stretches back to his early childhood when he had a menagerie of pets and enjoyed playing with tarantulas and horned lizards.
After college, Donaho immediately went to work in the zoo world, first as a zookeeper and later as a curator. He next went on to work in the biomedical research community, where, for the past twenty years, he has strived to understand and improve the health and welfare of animals and people.
Along with his wife of forty-plus years, Donaho has been involved in various animal rescue projects for over thirty-five years. A proud father of four, he's still a kid-at-heart when it comes to nature. To this day, he finds himself entranced by it and tries, as best he can, to capture its beauty through his camera.
